BJP got 47 seats in Uttarakhand

In Uttarakhand, the BJP returned to power for the second time in a row with a two-thirds majority in the 70-member assembly. BJP has got 47 seats in the state. However, no decision has been taken so far regarding the new CM in the state. Although it is also discussed that Ramesh Chandra Pokhriyal is also in the queue. While commenting on a new CM, Pokhriyal said that the MLA will choose his leader and the CM of the state. He insisted that all potential CM candidates would have to garner the support of the MLAs to become the Chief Minister.

Dhami submitted his resignation to the Governor

State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami submitted his resignation along with the state cabinet to Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh at Raj Bhavan on Friday. However, the governor has asked to continue as caretaker chief minister till the new government is sworn in. Significantly, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was defeated by Congress candidate Bhuvan Chandra Kapri by a margin of 6,579 votes. Dhami got a total of 41,598 votes with a vote share of 44.8 percent while Kapri got 48,177 votes with a vote share of 51.89 percent.
