Country’s first emergency air strip: MiG, Sukhoi and Hercules will land on 3 km long and 33 meter wide strip; Airforce rehearsed before inauguration

The country’s first emergency air strip being built near the India-Pakistan border is going to be inaugurated on Thursday. This strip is being built on NH-925A in Agadawa on the border of Barmer-Jalore district of Rajasthan.

On Wednesday, 3 fighter planes were landed here as a rehearsal. The Hercules plane was first landed in the morning under the supervision of Air Force officers. This was followed by the landing of Agusta helicopter along with Sukhoi and MiG. Traffic was also closed here till 2 pm. Airforce and police officers had arrived before landing.

It has been prepared under the Bharatmala project. It is 40 km away from Pakistan. It is designed for emergency use of the Air Force. Built at a cost of Rs 32.95 crore, it is a 3 km stretch of the airstrip. long and 33 meters wide. Two parking lots of size 40 by 180 meters have been made on both sides, so that the planes can be parked after landing.

Apart from this, ATC plinth of size 25 by 65 meters has been constructed with double storeyed ATC cabin which is fully equipped with washroom facility. Apart from this, 3.5 km near the emergency runway. A long and 7 meter wide service road has also been made. 33 crores have been spent on this.

Apart from the airport, for the first time, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will reach an airstrip. About 12 such highways are being built in the country in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense and Transport.

First ‘Touch and Go’ operation near the international border
On September 9, on the country’s first emergency airstrip, many fighter aircraft included in the Air Force fleet will land and take off with a loud roar for about one and a half hours.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will witness the trials of fighter jets at this airstrip. During this, fighter aircraft like Sukhoi SU-30, MiG and Jaguar will make landing on the emergency runway with loud roar.
