Data from Israel where adults are being given booster shots has reported that a shot of Pfizer Inc.’s COVID-19 vaccine has improved immunity and offered protection against serious illness in people over the age of 60 .
Israel’s Ministry of Health published a finding that the protection against infection provided from 10 days after the third dose was four times greater in people 60 years of age and older than after two doses. It has been found that the third jab, for people over 60, provides five to six times more protection from serious illness and hospitalization after 10 days.
Recently, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published three new studies that say the protection offered by Pfizer and Moderna against the novel coronavirus will eventually fade.
This has sparked debate among experts about the need for a booster dose for all.
