COVID-19 India News Updates: 2,64,202 new cases of Novel Coronavirus have been reported in India, with 315 deaths due to the infection in the last 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Friday (January 14), a total of 1,09,345 discharges took place in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate to around 95.20 per cent and the total recovery data reaching 3. ,48,24,706.
The total active cases of COVID-19 in India has risen to 12,72,073, according to the ministry’s data today.
Compared to yesterday (January 13), the total number of fresh COVID cases has increased by 6.7 per cent today. On Thursday, 2,47,417 cases were reported in India.
The total death toll in the country now stands at 4,85,350. In India, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.
The daily positivity rate stands at 14.78 per cent today.

Additionally, the number of Omicron cases has reached 5,753 on Friday.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra did not report any case of the new Omron variant of Covid-19, the state government said in an official statement on Thursday. The state recorded 46,406 new Covid cases and 36 deaths. The figures further suggest that the mortality rate in the state is reported to be 2%.
According to government data, so far a total of 1367 patients in the state have been infected with the Omicron variant.
State capital Mumbai on Thursday reported 13,702 fresh Covid-19 cases and 6 deaths, according to an official statement from the city’s municipal corporation. The number of active cases in the financial capital was recorded at 95,123.
The statement further said that the death toll in Mumbai has risen to 16,426.
