COVID Cases in India: Out of all the COVID cases reported so far, there are a total of 5,753 omicron cases.

India reported 2,64,202 fresh COVID-19 infections in 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday, taking the total number of cases in the country to 3,65,82,129.
The new cases mark a 6.7 per cent jump from the 2.47 lakh daily cases reported on Thursday. India has a total of 5,753 omicron cases among all the COVID cases reported so far.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 14.78 per cent – from 13.11% on Thursday – while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 11.83 per cent.
The country also reported 315 new deaths, taking the total death toll in India to 485,350, while active cases rose to 12,72,073.
Active cases comprise 3.48 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has come down to 95.2 per cent, the ministry said on Friday.

West Bengal BJP writes to State Election Commission seeking postponement of civic polls amid rise in COVID-19 cases
In the wake of the rise in COVID-19 cases, the West Bengal BJP on Friday wrote to the State Election Commission (SEC) requesting it to postpone the municipal elections by a month.
“We would like to add that since the notification of the said elections on December 28, 2021, the daily reported COVID cases increased from 732 to 23,467 as on January 13, 2022, as per the bulletin of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.” Said it.
The BJP said that the positivity rate in the state has also increased from 2.35 per cent on 28 December 2021 to 32.13 per cent on 13 January 2022.
