Coronavirus cases in 24 hours: India sees lowest fresh Covid cases in 266 days

New Delhi: According to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday, 10,126 Covid cases were registered in India in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest in 266 days.
With the fresh cases, the country’s total climbed to 3,43,77,113.

The active caseload was 1,40,638. In the last 24 hours, 11,982 people were cured, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,37,75,086. While active cases comprise 0.41% of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.25%, the highest since the start of the pandemic.

332 people succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 4,61,389. Out of the total newcomers, 262 are from Kerala and 15 from Maharashtra.

According to health data, 10,85,848 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 61,72,23,931.
As per the data, the daily positivity rate remained below 2% for the last 36 days, while the weekly positivity rate of 1.25% remained less than 2% for the last 46 days.
A total of 59,08,440 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, taking the total coverage to over 1,09,08,16,356.

On Monday, 5,404 new cases of Kovid were reported in Kerala and 80 people died, taking the number of infections to 50,20,909 and the death toll to 33,978.
According to the state health department, 52,862 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Kerala has 46 wards in 39 local self-government bodies with a weekly transition population ratio of more than 10%.

“At present, there are 71,316 active cases in Kerala, of which only 7.2% are hospitalised,” the health department said.

Among the districts, Thiruvananthapuram reported the highest number of cases –777, followed by Kollam with 662 cases and Kozhikode with 648 cases.
Meanwhile, 6,136 persons were cured of the disease today, taking the total to 49,14,993.

Maharashtra recorded 751 fresh Covid cases and 15 deaths on Monday, taking the total to 66,18,347 and the toll to 1,40,403, the state health department said.

The number of cases and fatalities decreased on Monday compared to Sunday which saw 892 infections and 16 deaths.

A total of 1,555 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in Maharashtra to 64,60,663 so far. An official said the active cases stood at 13,649.

Maharashtra’s case recovery rate is now 97.62% and the death rate is 2.12%.

No new cases were reported in 16 districts and five municipal corporations of the state on Monday. Mumbai districts reported the maximum number of 206 fresh cases, followed by Ahmednagar district with 46 cases.

Among the eight regions of Maharashtra, Mumbai region saw the highest number of 399 cases during the day, followed by Pune region with 175 cases.
The official said that 102 cases were reported in Nashik region, 30 in Kolhapur, 21 in Aurangabad, 17 in Latur, five in Akola and two in Nagpur.
