BJP MP from Prayagraj Rita Bahuguna Joshi has written a book on the life of her late father and former Uttar Pradesh CM Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Joshi. In the 325-page book ‘Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna: The Conductor of Indian Public Consciousness’, all the leaders including the former Prime Minister of Congress are mentioned.
Controversy escalated even before release
Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna was a big leader of the Congress, despite this he had differences with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on many issues. Even deep differences with former Prime Minister VP Singh have been given a place in this book. Not only this, the stories of Sanjay Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan and Union Minister Rajendra Kumari Bajpai have raised questions. This book is in headlines even before its release and also in controversies.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will release this book on May 4 in Delhi.
Indira Gandhi held 34 public meetings to defeat Hemvati
He left the Congress in 1980 after Congress leader Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna’s differences with Indira Gandhi came to the fore. In 1981, he contested the by-election in Garhwal as an independent candidate. Indira Gandhi tried hard to defeat him. He had held a total of 34 election meetings then. 18 Chief Ministers were also engaged in the election campaign.
This election lasted ten months. Once canceled, the date changed twice. Even after this, at the local level, people raised the slogan ‘Garhwa’s sandalwood Hemvati Nandan’, In that election, Bahuguna won with huge votes. This defeat pricked former Prime Minister Indira for a long time. Allahabad MP Dr. Rita has disclosed this in his book.
Told VP Singh ‘man of frustrated mentality’
In her book, Rita has mentioned many Congress veterans in the context of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna. He has written that Hemvati Nandan did not want former Prime Minister VP Singh to get the reins of the country. He believed that he was a person of frustrated mentality. If he sits on the top post, the nation will be ruined. It is also told that VP Singh was given Congress membership and ticket for the first time by his mother Kamala Bahuguna.
Rita Joshi says that the first edition of this book came in 1997, but it was not released then.
Hemvati opposed Sanjay Gandhi and Emergency
Rita Bahuguna Joshi has also mentioned Sanjay Gandhi while writing the story of her father’s struggles. Rita has written that the differences between Bahuguna and Indira had increased. Before leaving the Congress, he sought tickets for thirty people in the 1980 elections. When Indira refused, Sanjay Gandhi had a lot of influence on the Congress. People used to walk in front of him. Bahuguna did not compromise on his self-respect and did not go to Sanjay Gandhi for a ticket. He also opposed the Emergency. Had told Indira on the phone what she had done. He was strongly against the fascist ideology.
Amitabh Bachchan defeated Bahuguna in his house
The BJP MP has written that Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna never wanted her children to enter politics. He considered this area to be very difficult and was strongly against opportunism.
