In such a situation, this decision of CBSE is not proper. From the ministers of Punjab to the Chief Minister have also raised questions on the decision of the board regarding this.

In fact, hundreds of schools are running in Punjab affiliated to CBSE. In these schools, Punjabi is not compulsory in class 10th and 12th board this time. It has been made optional along with some other subjects. There is a protest in Punjab regarding this.

Board’s decision against the Act: Former IAS

Former Punjab IAS officer KBS Sidhu raised questions that the Punjab Punjabi and Learning of Other Languages ​​Act 2008 is applicable. Under which it is mandatory to teach Punjabi in the schools running in Punjab. The board cannot remove Punjabi from the list of compulsory subjects from its recognized schools. In terms of the Act, the Board does not have the authority to violate it in the schools affiliated to them located in Punjab.
