The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to list the pending contempt petition against Jharkhand government and DGP Neeraj Sinha for urgent hearing. It has been alleged in the petition that DGP Sinha is holding the post even after retiring on January 31.

The bench of CJI NV Raman was told by senior veal Siddhath Luthra that the matter was ordered to be listed in September last year but the hearing has not started yet. To this the bench said, send the file of this matter to us, we will see.

The Supreme Court had on July 14 last year issued notice on a contempt petition against the state government, its top officials and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for alleged violation of its verdict. Later, Sinha was also made a litigant in this case. The petitioner Rajesh Kumar had demanded an urgent hearing of the matter alleging violation of the Supreme Court’s decision.
