The much-awaited Congress Working Committee (CWC) of the Congress party is likely to be announced by the end of this month. The Congress amended its constitution during the Raipur session in February this year to increase the number of CWC members from 25 to 35 with fifty per cent reservation for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), women Had done Minorities, and people under the age of 50.

The Congress Working Committee is the highest decision-making body of the Congress. There will be many new faces who will be inducted in the CWC as the party has decided to give 50% reservation to various categories.

According to sources, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Kumari Selja, Tariq Anwar, KC Venugopal and Mukul Wasnik will also continue as general secretaries in the new CWC, while leaders like Avinash Pandey, Chella Kumar, HK Patil and Dinesh Gundorao, both of whom have been inducted into the Karnataka government Gone are Bhakt Charan Das, Manish Chatrath, Raghu Sharma and Harish Chowdhary who will be replaced by new faces.

The party will try to accommodate all its former chief ministers and Union ministers so that they are part of the team with which the party will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Former chief ministers such as Ashok Chavan, Prithvi Raj Chavan and Harish Rawat will be given responsibilities in the AICC or in their states, while former Union ministers such as Ajay Maken and Subodhkant Sahai will be given some role in the AICC. Also, former Maharashtra power minister Nitin Raut will be given an important role in Delhi and may be made in-charge of an important state.

The party will create a new department for election management, Ajay Maken may be made the head of that department, and Karnataka GS Randeep Singh Surjewala may be given the role of a senior observer in an election-bound state like Madhya Pradesh, where it is in-charge and state The PCCs are face to face.

PCC chiefs of some states, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Rajasthan, may also be changed. According to sources, the list can be announced anytime after May 23.
