Congress will bring a law against lynching if voted to power in UP: Imran Pratapgarhi

The party on Monday said the Congress will prepare a proposal to bring a law against mob lynching and send it to the President if voted to power in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Congress’s National President of Minorities Department Imran Pratapgarhi said that the party has resolved to set up a legal cell in its minority department to solve the problems of the minority community through legal means.

Pratapgarhi said this while addressing the ‘Parivartan Sankalp Sammelan’ organized by the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Minorities Department. State President of Minorities Department Shahnawaz Alam said in his address that if Congress comes to power, it will enact a law against mob lynching.

A 16-point resolution was also issued on the occasion, stating that the Congress will withdraw the cases registered during the anti-CAA and NRC protests and give compensation. It said that all riots that took place during the Samajwadi Party rule in the state will also be probed.

National Secretary and Joint In-charge of Uttar Pradesh Dheeraj Gurjar stressed on the importance of being a partner in the real development of the state. He said that Congress is the only party which can accelerate the pace of development.

People of all religions can stay safe, Gurjar said that when people of all castes and religions stand together under the Congress flag, Uttar Pradesh will be able to become ‘Uttam Pradesh’. UPCC president Ajay Kumar Lallu, who presided over the conference, said that only the Congress was raising the voice of the people and their interests.
