Congress Says Fighting for ‘Rights’ of Dalits, Minorities to Be Priority if Party Wins MCD Polls

The party’s Delhi unit chief Anil Chowdhary on Monday said fighting for the “rights and security” of Dalits and minorities would be the first priority if the Congress wins the civic polls in the national capital.

Chowdhary said the Congress would implement various social welfare schemes to empower these communities, especially Dalit children, through quality education.

Elections to the 250-wards Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) are to be held on December 4 while the counting of votes will take place on December 7.

“People are expecting good governance in MCD and there is no better option than Congress to fulfill that dream. We will implement various social welfare schemes to empower Dalits and minorities.”

He alleged that the BJP did not honor its promise to regularize the temporary and contract employees of the MCD.

In the “2017 MCD Election Sankalp Patra”, the BJP had promised to regularize temporary and contractual employees. BJP did not say anything about this in its 2022 manifesto. Even (Delhi Chief Minister Arvind) Kejriwal had made many hollow promises to the Dalit community.
