According to Congress sources, the first list of around 120 candidates may come by Thursday afternoon.

The party’s state president DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said the first list of Congress candidates for the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections would be released in a day or two.

The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief said that initially the plan was to release the list on Wednesday, but it was pushed to a later date.

He said, ‘Today we had thought of releasing the list of candidates. Our general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala is here and our national president Mallikarjun Kharge is here to celebrate Ugadi festival. It will be released in a day or two.

According to Congress sources, the first list of about 120 candidates may come by Thursday afternoon.

Sources said the first list will include sitting MLAs and those constituencies where there is less opposition among party workers to candidates who have a good chance of winning the election.
