“This is a confirmation of our allegation that fuel prices are high mainly due to higher taxes,” the former finance minister said.
“And we allege that the high fuel tax is due to the greed of the central government,” he said.
Hitting back at the Congress leader, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who earlier held portfolios of petroleum and natural gas, said, “If the allegation is being sensitive to the demand of the people and sharing their sorrow, then we will take it happily.” Because Modi Sarkar means. Chidambaram had said on Wednesday that in the by-elections to 30 assembly constituencies, the BJP has won seven seats and its declared allies have won eight.
