Conference in JNU to Promote Women Contribution in Science

Jawaharlal Nehru University will organize a three-day conference from Thursday to promote the contribution of women in various fields of science and entrepreneurship.

The main focus is to encourage the dissemination of scientific innovations and reach out to women to achieve sustainable development, the university said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Stree 2020 Conference & Expo to be held at the Convention Center will be inaugurated by Union Science & technology Minister Jitendra Singh.

According to the statement, it is being jointly organized by JNU and Shakti, a “national movement” for women led by vice-chancellor Santashree Pandit.

“The main objective of the conference is to promote the contribution of women in various fields of science and entrepreneurship through exchange of ideas, presentation of technological achievements and discussion of future directions.”

The valedictory session will be attended by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Highlights of the conference included talks by three Padma Shri awardees and women leaders in various institutions from across the spectrum.

The university said that the open forum session will give young researchers and women participants an opportunity to interact and interact with several successful academicians and entrepreneurs.
