In his complaint, the advocate said, “Twitter, which is a microblogging website/platform, in association with Armin Nawab and Atheist Republic has been showing this blasphemous material since July 2011. The user profile of Atheist Republic is full of such blasphemous content. It is about Hinduism and other religions.
“Twitter, on the other hand, as an important Social Media Intermediary (SSMN), has not taken any steps to remove such content but is acting as an accomplice of the crime in gross violation of Indian laws and Showing such blasphemous and derogatory content. ,” said the complaint.
The advocate said that Twitter through its platform is deliberately promoting hate speech about Hinduism, which is in violation of the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
In his complaint, Deshwal said Manish Maheshwari, MD, Twitter India, and Shagufta Kamran, Public Policy Manager, Twitter India, tried to remove such objectionable content from their platforms even after a month had elapsed with the intention of promoting communalism.
