‘Commitment to cleanliness’: PM Modi picks up garbage during inspection of Pragati Maidan tunnel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Garbage was seen on Sunday during an inspection of a new tunnel built under the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor in Delhi.

Inspecting the newly inaugurated tunnel, Modi picked up an empty plastic water bottle and a few other things that were thrown away. He was looking at the paintings on the inner wall of the tunnel.

Tweeting a video of it, West Bengal BJP co-in-charge Amit Malviya said, “Commitment to cleanliness is an article of faith for the Prime Minister. Even at the inauguration of the ITPO tunnel, he made it a point to pick up the garbage and set an example.

PM Modi inaugurated the main tunnel and five underpasses of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor project, an integral part of the Pragati Maidan redevelopment exercise.

The Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor project has been built at a cost of over Rs 920 crore and is fully funded by the central government.

It aims to provide hassle free and easy access to the new world class Exhibition and Convention Center being developed at Pragati Maidan so that exhibitors and visitors can participate easily in the events being organized there.

Back in 2019, during his visit to Mamallapuram for an informal summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, PM Modi had released a video of his morning walk ritual on his Twitter profile. In the footage, he can be seen cleaning the beach next to him.

In a series of tweets in keeping with his Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Prime Minister advised people to ensure cleanliness in public places. When the prime minister picked up garbage from the ancient Tamil Nadu city of Kovalam beach, he said one should strive to stay fit and healthy.

“Plogging on a beach in Mamallapuram this morning. It went on for more than 30 minutes,” he said in his tweet.
