The forthcoming statue, expected to stand as the tallest in the district, aims to represent the district’s original essence.

In a significant development, plans are underway to install the largest statue of Gautam Buddha in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district, adjoining the capital. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noida Authority, Lokesh Kumar M, said that the aim was to erect a 75-feet tall statue of Gautam Buddha, emphasising its potential to enhance the district’s aesthetic appeal. Preparations for this ambitious project were initiated by Kumar recently as he held discussions with renowned Padma Bhushan sculptor Ram Sutar to commence work on the statue.

The forthcoming statue, expected to stand as the tallest in the district, aims to represent the district’s original essence. Kumar personally met with Ram Sutar, celebrated globally for his sculpting prowess, to commission the project. During their meeting on Friday, the latter was honoured with a shawl, marking the beginning of the artistic endeavour.

Ram Sutar’s son, Anil, confirmed that the CEO envisioned a statue that embodies the district’s intrinsic spirit. The exact location for the monumental artwork will be finalised in due course, and it is poised to become a major attraction in the district.

Notably, artist Ram Sutar is renowned worldwide for his monumental sculptures, including the iconic Statue of Unity, the tallest statue in the world. The initiative underscores Noida Authority’s commitment to cultural enrichment and beautification, promising to create a landmark that will resonate with residents and visitors alike.
