Kolkata: Colleges And city universities were busy finalizing their preparations to reopen campuses next week.
From sanitizing the campus to arranging desks and chairs at a distance of two meters to putting up posters about safety guidelines, Friday was a busy day for most principals and teachers of colleges and universities.
Preparations for reopening were underway since last month, when the government announced that schools and colleges would reopen in a phased manner from November 16. Even before the guidelines were issued by the Higher Education Department, principals, teachers and other staff members had started preparing for the reopening. Admission and taking online classes.

“Posters have been put up on the campus explaining the COVID appropriate behavior which the students should follow. Regular sanitization is being done. We have assessed how many classes will be required for students visiting the campus and have arranged desks and chairs to help with social distancing. We are sanitizing the premises regularly,” said Subhasis Dutta, principal of Maulana Azad College,
Also in other colleges like Bethune, Gokhale, Basanti Devi, Goenka, most of the staff were in the college for last minute preparation.
“We held a meeting with teachers and heads of departments to ensure all guidelines are followed. Since the students are coming to the campus after so many days, it is natural that they will get excited and mingle with each other.
