The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country reached around 196 crore on Friday, the Union Health Ministry said. More than 13 lakh vaccine doses were given till 7 pm on Friday. The daily vaccination numbers are expected to increase with the compilation of the final report for the day by late night.

According to the Health Ministry data, taking the number of such jobs given in this age group to 39,00,663, a total of 1,15,656 precautionary intakes of COVID vaccine among people aged 18-59 years as of 7 pm on Tuesday. Dose given.

So far more than 3.56 crore children in the age group of 12-14 years have been given the first dose, while more than 6 crore adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years have been given the first dose.

The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16 last year, in which health workers were vaccinated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2 last year.

The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 last year for people above 60 years of age and 45 years and above with specified comorbid conditions.

Vaccination for all people over the age of 45 began on April 1 last year. The government then decided to expand the scope of the vaccination campaign, allowing everyone above the age of 18 to be vaccinated against Covid from May 1 last year. Vaccination of adolescents aged 15-18 years began on 3 January.

India began giving preventive doses of vaccines to health care and frontline workers and people aged 60 years and above from January 10.

The country began immunizing children aged 12-14 years from March 16 and also removed the comorbidity clause, making everyone over the age of 60 eligible for a precautionary dose of the COVID vaccine. India began giving a precautionary dose of COVID-19 vaccines to all people above the age of 18 on 10 April.
