Civilians killed in J&K: Two more non-local laborers shot dead

Earlier on Saturday, two non-native workers – a carpenter and a street vendor – were gunned down and shot dead by terrorists.

The carpenter was identified as Sagir Ahmed of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, while the street vendor was Arvind Kumar Sah of Bihar.

Saturday’s attacks come hours after Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar assured that the “terrorists responsible for these (civilian) killings” had been identified. He said two of them were killed, they were close to “neutralizing” the others. IGP Kashmir had also denied any security lapse on his part, saying that the police cannot be expected to provide security to everyone.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah lamented the killing of innocent people and said:

“The killing of innocent people is unfortunate. It is a conspiracy to defame Kashmiris.”
