Civilians killed in Hyderpora firing ‘not innocent’: DGP – Kashmir Pathak

Over 20 terrorists responsible for the targeted killings of civilians in the Valley have been killed so far

Jammu: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said on Thursday that those killed in the Hyderpora firing were not innocent and strong evidence was available against them.
He defended the police saying that it is a professional force and they do not need to take lessons from anyone.
Addressing a press briefing, Singh said that a special investigation team has been constituted by the police to probe the Hyderpora encounter.
“We should give them some time to make specific comments. However, I would like to say with full authority that the police are doing their job in a professional manner and our officers know how to operate. We don’t want lessons about performing operations from people who are unaware of how the operations are being performed,” he said while answering a question.
Claiming that the civilians killed in the Hyderpora encounter were ‘not innocent’, the DGP said, “Very strong evidence is available in this case and will be shared with all concerned very soon. So called innocent civilians are foreigners for Reiki on motorcycles.” Taking out terrorist, picking up targets and you call them innocent.
He said his innocence would be proved as the investigation proceeds.
“The foreign terrorist (Pakistani national) who was roaming in the city with a weapon was responsible for shooting a policeman and that policeman recognized him as he fired at him from very close range. Our investigation is going on, which is very much indicating that the terrorist (Pakistani) has an extremist network around him, which was supporting him. We will see who is involved to what extent and will be shared at the right time,” said the THR DGP.
Singh reacted to the comments regarding apprehensions over the operations being carried out over the past two weeks.
He said that “this is politics and Mehbooba should stop it.”
Mehbooba Mufti had earlier questioned the motive behind these ‘encounters’.
Singh also said that some people in civil society and social media often make such claims which are far from reality.
“This is the right time when people accept reality without mixing it with their imagination,” he said. “Yesterday three terrorists were killed in Rambagh encounter. Mehran, a resident of Srinagar, was prominent among them and these three school teachers Supinder Kaur and Deepak Chan Mehra, police SI Arshad and several incidents of grenade firing, including several innocent civilians were killed, he said, “who try to show them . Because the innocent are the enemies of humanity.”
These comments come in connection with the Rambagh encounters, which have created a storm in the political circles of the Valley.
On the recent killings of civilians, the DGP said that the police is probing every case.
“More than 20 terrorists involved in the killings of civilians have been killed so far. Right now Basit of Kulgam is absconding and security forces are behind him, he will be taken to action soon,” the DGP said.
On the term ‘hybrid terrorists’, the DGP said that these terrorists look like normal school going boys or officer goers but can take up gun at any time to kill anyone.
The DGP also congratulated the Jammu Police for swift action against the drug menace.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh said that medicines worth 100 crores have been seized for Jammu.
ADGP Mukesh Singh said, “Registration number of a truck from Haryana was seized with a consignment of 52 kg heroines worth Rs 100 crore in the international market. KNO
