Citroen takes a dig at Tesla CEO Elon Musk via billboard, here’s why

Tesla CEO Elon Musk often likes to pull the leg off of different brands of people and hence is subject to similar comments from others. Recently, French carmaker Citroen took a jibe at Elon Musk after recording quick sales on its limited-edition Amy buggy electric car. It should be noted that the French automaker sold all 50 units of the electric car in less than 18 minutes using its digital platform. Taking a dig at Tesla and Elon Musk, Citroen put up banners of Emmy buggy that read, “Sorry Elon, the only way to get one is to buy us.”

Citron’s message to Elon Musk was displayed on a billboard in French at the Gare de l’Est train station in Paris. The French automaker interprets the comment as a jab at Tesla’s CEO, possibly pointing to his desire to acquire other businesses. In a recent unanimous vote, the social media site’s board approved Musk’s $44 billion acquisition proposal for Twitter.

It is necessary to mention that the Citroen Ami electric car was launched back in April 2020. The electric car has carved a niche for itself in the market, with over 22,000 units of Ami on the road. Electric vehicles have a major hold in the markets of Europe, Turkey and Morocco.

Starting at €9,790, the carmaker’s limited edition My Amy Buggy is available for purchase (approximately 8.09 lakhs converted). The small electric vehicle lacks the typical roof. Instead Citroen offers a canvas ceiling that can be rolled back as needed. Metal tube gates also exist.

Talking about Amy, it is a small sized mini electric car, its length is 2.41 meters, width is 1.390 meters and height is 1.52 meters. In addition, the car touches the ground with 14-inch wheels. The EV draws its power from a 6-kW electric motor and 5.5 kWh battery pack.
