In its most recent statement, the academy said, “Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and declined, (but) we also believe we could have handled the situation differently.” The Academy also announced that it had “initiated disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Smith for a breach of the Academy’s standards of conduct”.
