Child found mother after 3 years in Assam: real parents were identified after DNA test, child was changed due to nurse’s mistake

Parents have got their son back after three years in Barpeta district of Assam. The real parents of the child were identified after the DNA test. In the year 2019, two pregnant women were admitted to the government hospital. The name of both was Najma Khanum. When both gave birth to a child, one’s child was born dead, but the nurse accidentally gave the child alive to another woman.

Eventually the matter was resolved with a DNA test. The district court ordered that the 3-year-old boy be handed over to his real mother, Najma Khanum.

There was a case against the hospital
The surviving child’s mother and her husband could not believe how their healthy child could die. After this, a case was filed against the hospital at Barpeta Sadar Police Station. When the police investigated the matter, it came to know that Najma Khatoon of Gosaigaon had admitted her sick child to the hospital on the same day. He died during treatment. The children were turned among themselves by the mistake of the nurse.

DNA test done after court order
When the matter of child swap reached the court, the court ordered a DNA test. The DNA test revealed which Najma Khanum is the real mother of the child. After this, her child was returned to the real mother by the order of the court.
