Chief Minister Mamata announces ‘Khela Hobe Day’ to be celebrated in West Bengal; details awaited

Kolkata: During election campaign, some slogans are coined to attack the opponents while the government uses constructive slogans to showcase their work. One such slogan resonated and gained popularity during the West Bengal assembly elections.

‘Khela Hobe’ was the slogan used by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), meaning: “Game On”. The slogans used during the West Bengal Assembly elections were initially meant to keep the morale of the party (TMC) workers high.

Now, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has announced that since people love ‘Khela Hobe’, they will now celebrate ‘Khela Hobe Day’ in Bengal. Mamta Banerjee said this in the West Bengal Assembly today.

The TMC, and especially Mamata Banerjee, often used this slogan during election rallies. They were targeting the BJP directly and one can guess that this election slogan worked in favor of TMC.

The election slogan did not stop even on ‘Khela Hobe’. Mamata Banerjee gave another slogan with ‘khela hobe’ – ‘khela hobe, dekha hobe, jeeta hobe’ (Let the game begin, we will see and we will win).

Apart from this, Mamata Banerjee also used ‘Hare Krishna Hare Ram, Vida Ho BJP-Vam’ in response to the slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

After the victory in the West Bengal assembly elections, TMC’s eyes are now on Tripura. The same slogan was also issued in Tripura last month. The name of the song in Tripura is ‘Khela Hobe Tripuraya’ which means – The game will now be played in Tripura.
