Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Karuna Raju has shown a tough attitude on election rallies in Punjab amid fears of third wave of Corona. He said that I have taken the report of the condition of corona from the Health Secretary. He has further been sent to DC, SSP and Commissioner of Police (CP). He has been asked to take steps in this regard.

Dr. Raju, who came live on social media on Sunday, said on election rallies amidst the threat of Corona that let the model code of conduct of Punjab elections be implemented, after that I will start my work. Right now, all kinds of guidelines related to the central government and Kovid have been sent to the officers.

Rules will be strictly enforced as soon as the code is in place

Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Raju said that after the implementation of the code, the rules related to Corona will be strictly enforced. Where the number of gatherings is fixed, there can be as many people as possible. These will be monitored by the Election Commission. If there is any violation, then action will be taken according to the code.

Postal Ballot for Elderly, Divyang and Kovid Patients

Dr. Karuna Raju said that this time in Punjab elections, people above 80 years of age can vote through postal ballot. Apart from this, disabled people who have more than 40% disability will also get this facility. Those corona positive patients who are in home isolation will also get this facility.

6 lakh new cards made, home delivery by 20 January

Dr. Raju said that 6 lakh new EPIC cards have been made in Punjab. Whose printing work is going on. The final voter list will come on January 5. After this, home delivery of voter cards will be done by January 20. Apart from this, people can also download voter card on their mobile and vote through it.

Health workers will not be BLO

Dr. Karuna Raju said that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will not be appointed to health workers in Punjab. He said that they will be engaged in works related to Corona. On telling the male health workers about the installation of BLOs in Jaiton, he said that it would be investigated.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that it would be forbidden to carry mobiles inside the polling booth. He said that some people take his photo while voting and put it on social media. which is not appropriate. Apart from this, he also assured strict action in case of any wrongdoing by any officer. He said that action will be taken on any complaint against anyone. Its result will definitely come out.
