The POCSO Court in Chhattisgarh’s Durg on Thursday sentenced a youth to two years in jail for molesting a minor girl and physically harassing her.
The accused Kamta Patel, under Utai police station was arrested for grabbing a little from behind and kissing her in public place. Shocked by the incident on reaching home, the minor narrated the ordeal to his mother. On getting information about the incident, the parents of the minor lodged a complaint at the Utai police station.
On receiving the complaint, the Utai police station registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the POCSO Act. The accused was sentenced to two years’ rigorous imprisonment in the court of Special Judge Avinash K Tripathi.
In another incident, the mother of an eight-year-old girl approached the High Court seeking protection from hackers and ransom seekers. According to the woman, hackers have hacked her mobile phone and email id. He said, ‘They tampered with my pictures and blackmailed me. The hackers are demanding huge amount and are threatening to upload the photos on the internet if their demands are not met.
The Chhattisgarh High Court has summoned Kabir Nagar and Purani Basti police stations to investigate and arrest the culprits behind the hacking and blackmailing incident. The High Court has directed both the police stations to submit the report along with the affidavit.
Last week, a woman in her 20s was kidnapped, gang-raped and murdered by two drunk men in the state’s Bemetara district. Both the criminals were arrested hours after the victim’s mother lodged the complaint.
During interrogation, the duo told the police that they had gang-raped the woman and killed her as she was resisting the two moving forward.
