RaipurA man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a minor girl with a sharp weapon and dragging her on the road in Gudhiyari area of Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The police gave this information on Sunday. Sensation spread in the Gudhiyari area of Chhattisgarh’s capital late Saturday evening when a middle-aged man was seen dragging a 16-year-old minor girl by her hair.
The incident came to light when a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms, following which the local police launched an investigation into the incident. A police officer said that a case was registered at Gudhiyari police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.

Police said the girl’s condition is said to be critical and she is under constant observation of doctors. According to Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prashant Agarwal, the victim was working at the shop of the accused, who has been identified as Onkar Tiwari alias Manoj (47). The SSP said, “As soon as the incident came to know, the police immediately swung into action and arrested the accused assailant.”
Sharing the details of the incident, the SSP said that angry with the victim’s offer to quit the job and other things, the accused had attacked the minor girl. Meanwhile, police sources said that the accused had allegedly proposed to marry the minor girl and the victim’s mother refused. On refusal, the accused attacked the minor girl with a sharp weapon and dragged her by her hair in front of a huge crowd. Further investigation of the matter is underway.
