More than 50 hours after a 10-year-old boy fell into a deep borewell in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district, rescue operations are underway to rescue him. He told that a boy named Rahul Sahu is trapped in a depth of about 62 feet and he is being monitored by cameras.

Several officers from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force, South Eastern Coalfields (SECL) and a team of robotics experts along with district machinery are working on the evacuation. Officials said a medical team is ready and oxygen supply has been ensured.
On Sunday, when the shaft around Rahul was flooded, the rescue team said they helped him in the efforts to get him out. Officials said the eldest son of his parents is deaf and mute and is responding to signals.
Expert Mahesh Ahire is engaged in rescue work on the orders of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Experts from three Coal India mines also joined the rescue operation.
The NDRF teams dug a parallel pit of about 60 feet next to the pit and according to rescuers, they have planned to build a tunnel till the pit to reach the boy. However, they are concerned about the stability of the land. An SDRF jawan present on the ground said, “Since it is a rocky area, there are big rocks which are creating obstacles.
CM Baghel is monitoring the rescue operation and talking to the Sahu family. He also issued orders to the district officials to ensure that no borewell pits are opened.
