Chhattisgarh: One killed, over 20 injured after car rams into crowd during Durga Puja festival in Jashpur

There is a lot of resentment among the citizens about the accident in the middle of Pathalgaon city. People say that there is a case of ganja smuggling, in which there is an allegation of involvement of the local police.

At least 20 people were injured when an uncontrolled car rammed into a crowd during Durga Puja immersion in Jashpur.

A 21-year-old youth is also reported to have died in the incident. According to reports, some quantity of ‘ganja’ has been recovered in the car. A heart-wrenching video of the incident has surfaced. The incident happened during the immersion procession of Mata Durga set up at Pathalgaon Bazarpara in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh. The car ran towards Sukhrapara at a speed of 100 to 120, crushing the people involved in the procession.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital in Pathalgaon for treatment. Citizens of Pathalgaon have gheraoed the police station. At the same time, with the demand to suspend the policeman on duty, they are demanding immediate action against the accused.

The information reveals that the accused will be taken to Kapu police station. There is a lot of resentment among the citizens about the accident in the middle of Pathalgaon city. District Collector Ritesh Agarwal told that they are about to reach Pathalgaon. He also said that it is a sad incident and the first priority is to treat the people and the injured. He has appealed to the people to maintain peace, action will be taken against whoever is guilty.

Condemning the incident, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “The culprits were immediately arrested. Prima facie action has also been taken against the police officers found guilty. An inquiry has been ordered. No one will be spared.” Justice will be done. All. May the departed soul rest in peace.”
