Mysore: Newly constructed 450-bed Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) Hospital which was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind opened his services to the public from Monday on 7 October.
Except for covid care, maternity and paediatrics, other departments including emergency care have been shifted from the old district hospital premises to this facility.
Yeddapura has a 450 bedded hospital spread over 31,000 square meters spread over 2.3 acres of land in a 10-acre campus. The five-storey building houses outpatient services, wards, laboratories, emergency wards, main operation theatre, medical officers’ rooms, teaching halls, administrative services and other large halls and rooms.
As most of the medical services were shifted from the old district hospital to the new facility on B Rachaiya Road, people were advised to avail treatment except obstetrics, pediatrics and Covid care at the new hospital from Monday.
Despite delay in recruitment of non-teaching staff, Group-D employees, security guards and civic activist, the officials of sims are running the hospital using the old district hospital staff.
CIMS Dean and Director Dr DM Sanjeev told TOI that though CIMS has enough experts, doctors A proposal has been sent to the state government for the appointment of 380 employees, including D Group employees, security guards and pour workers.
Since the hospital has seven entry and exit points, immediate recruitment of security staff is essential to guard the entire premises and manage the movement of patients, their relatives, vehicles and hospital staff. He said that the construction of rest room for the security guards is also pending before the authorities.
KSRTC started bus Service
Since the new hospital is located at a distance of seven kilometers from the city, KSRTC has started bus operations from Tuesday. Its ticket price is fixed at Rs 15 per person. B Srinivas, Divisional Controller of Chamarajanagar Division said that buses are operated from the city bus stand to the new hospital every 45 minutes.
