Over the years, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has emerged as a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and make their way into the India National Cricket Team. Many players have become household names and have got their first chance to represent the country due to their stellar performances in the cash-rich league. Rajasthan Royals left-arm pacer Chetan Sakaria is one such story who worked hard to make his dreams come true and earned fame during the IPL. His impressive performance with the ball led to his selection for India’s tour of Sri Lanka.
The 23-year-old played one ODI and two T20 Internationals on the tour and put in a good number of appearances. After representing India in two formats, Sakariya now dreams of donning whites and performing well for his country. He understands the importance of being a Test cricketer very well, hence is ready to play 100 matches in the longest format of cricket.
During a question/answer session uploaded by Rajasthan Royals on social media, Sakariya expressed his desire to play 100 Test matches for the country as according to him becoming a Test cricketer is the biggest achievement. “If you play one match or many matches, becoming a Test player is a great achievement in the field of cricket. That’s why I want to play 100 Test matches for my country.”
Earlier this year, Sakariya made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals under the captaincy of Sanju Samson and impressed cricket fans and selectors with his variations, especially in the death overs. Addressing some of the questions asked by his fans, he praised his RR captain. He revealed that Samson takes all the pressure off the youngsters, especially if he is debuting.
