Chennai Super Kings have arguably the craziest fanbase in the IPL. Be it at their home ground Chepauk or any other venue, a sea of yellow can be seen whenever the MS Dhoni-led team takes the field. With this season feared to be Dhoni’s last, the Chennai supporters refused to miss the opportunity to see the legendary skipper in the IPL final for the 10th time and probably for the last time as well.

Chennai have dominated this IPL. They reached the playoffs after finishing second in the league table. In the first qualifier, Chennai had to face Gujarat Titans and in front of a packed Chepauk, they succeeded in the task. Fueled by home support, MS Dhoni & Co. registered an emphatic 15-run victory in the decider.

After winning the toss, the visiting team captain Hardik Pandya sent the host team to bat first on the slow pitch of Chennai. Powered by a blistering start from their openers, Chennai might struggle for 172 in 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad was the best player for Chennai as he scored 60 off 44 balls. His opening partner Devon Conway showed his consistency and scored a brilliant 40 runs. In reply, Gujarat could not negotiate with the on-song bowling attack of Chennai and were eventually bundled out for 157 runs.

The scenario is expected to be different during the final in Ahmedabad where Gujarat Titans will play in front of home fans. The Hardik Pandya-led unit will be eyeing sweet revenge in the summit clash in an attempt to take home their second consecutive IPL trophy.
