At Charli XCX’s music show at a nightclub in Sao Paulo, Brazil, a certain section of the audience was heard chanting, “Taylor is dead.”

English singer Charlotte Emma Aitchison, better known as Charli XCX, demonstrated the perfect example of sisterhood at her latest music show. The Good Ones singer was performing at ZIGclub in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday, June 22. During her performance, some anti-Taylor Swift fans were heard chanting derogatory slogans towards the pop star. Displeased by the crowd’s behaviour, Charli XCX took a stand for Taylor Swift by posting an elaborate write-up on her Instagram Stories. She simply asked the people to “stop” attacking an artist, asserting that she would not “tolerate” misconduct.

“Can the people who do this please stop? Online or at my shows. It is the opposite of what I want and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community. I will not tolerate it,” wrote Charli XCX. According to a report by Deadline, a certain section of the audience was heard chanting, “A Taylor morreu” in Portuguese which translates to “Taylor is dead.” When a Swiftie demanded attention to the crowd’s “toxic behaviour”, it prompted Charli XCX to defend the name of her fellow pop singer.

There have been rumours of bad blood between Taylor Swift and Charlie XCX. Not long ago Charli’s fans attacked Swift for releasing a UK-exclusive digital version of her popular album The Tortured Poets Department in the same week as Charli produced her latest album Brat. Fans speculated that the album clash posed a hindrance to Charli securing a top spot on the UK’s Official Charts, claimed Variety.

That was not all on the supposed rivalry between the two singing sensations. Rumours also started swirling that one of the songs from the Brat album titled Sympathy is a Knife was Charli XCX’s indirect diss at Taylor Swift. Previously, Charli hinted at how the track was inspired by a woman who tapped her “insecurities”, reported Variety. The lyrics of the song also mention someone as “George”. Interestingly, Charli is engaged to drummer George Daniel, who is a member of the pop band The 1975, and Swift used to date the band’s lead singer Matty Healy.

Despite all the claims, Charli XCX has never commented negatively on Taylor Swift. She even gave a shoutout to the Blank Space singer in 2018 calling her “one of the biggest artists” of the present generation.
