Bangalore: Famous Kannada writer and poet, Professor Chandrashekhar Patili (83), passed away on Monday morning in Bengaluru following age-related health problems.
Patil was also known as ‘Champa,
Champa was a resident of Hattimuttur village in Haveri.
He was instrumental in pro-Kannada protests, including the famous Gokak protest in the 1980s, where a successful battle was fought for Kannada to get first language status.
Champa was the president of Kannada Development Board and Sahitya Parishad.
According to family sources, the last rites will be performed in Bengaluru on Monday evening.
