Chandrapur: The government has not yet taken a decision regarding the reopening schools In urban areas, a group of schools Chandrapur City Physical classes have started. Sources claimed that pending fee recovery, pressure from parents and competition from schools operating in rural areas forced the people of the city to resume classes.
There are at least half a dozen large private schools in the gram panchayat areas on the outskirts of the city. They have started classes for classes VIII to XII from July 15 as per the guidelines of the state government for reopening of schools in rural areas. The decision regarding schools in urban areas has been deferred.
Collector Ajay Gulhane He said that he has not received any orders or instructions from the government to reopen schools in urban areas. “Therefore, no order was passed for reopening of schools in Chandrapur city,” he said.
Education Officer (Middle School), Ulhas Narad admitted that some schools in Chandrapur city had reopened, but made it clear that his department had not issued permission for the same.
The School Education Department had on August 10 issued a GR allowing the reopening of schools in urban areas (municipal corporation and city council areas). The GR was put on hold after a week and Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad issued a statement that the final decision would be taken after taking the views of the stakeholders.
“When the GR was put on hold, no instructions or circulars were issued regarding reopening of schools in urban areas. It is likely that some schools have assumed that the government has not revoked the GR,” Narad said, but added that reopening of schools in urban areas is illegal and action will be taken on receipt of a complaint.
Academics termed it a gross violation of the epidemic law. He claimed that though the government has not canceled the GR, it has been clearly mentioned that the collector has the power to decide. He said that when the Collector has not issued any such order, it is illegal to reopen the schools in Chandrapur city.
