Chandigarh night curfew lifted, restaurants/bars allowed to open till midnight

Chandigarh’s night curfew has been withdrawn.

The Chandigarh administration on Tuesday withdrew the night curfew from the Union Territory. In addition, all restaurants and bars will be allowed to remain open with 50 per cent capacity from 8 am to 12 noon. The UT administration has also decided to withdraw the restriction on 50 per cent capacity of passengers for public transport.

News agency ANI said, “Night curfew has been completely withdrawn from UT. All restaurants/bars can remain open from 8 am to 12 noon with 50% capacity. 50 per cent of passengers for public transport.” Restriction on % capacity has been withdrawn.” a tweet.

On April 28, the administration announced the extension of the curfew period by three hours to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 in the UT. Prior to this announcement, a night curfew was imposed from 9 pm to 5 am, which was later extended from 6 pm to 5 am.
