new Delhi: The celebration of the auspicious festival of Navratri has started from today as this year Chaitra Navratri will start from Saturday (April 2) and will end on April 11.
During Navratri, different forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped on each day of the 9-day festival.
The first day of Chaitra Navratri is celebrated by worshiping Goddess Shailputri, who is believed to be the first form of Goddess Durga.

Importance
The first day of Chaitra Navratri is of utmost importance as it not only marks the beginning of the nine-day festivities and festivities but also ‘Kalash Sthapana’ is performed on this day.
Kalash Sthapana is the day when a separate place is cleaned and established where the idol of Goddess Durga will be kept for the next nine days.
While all the days of Navratri are celebrated by worshiping the forms of Goddess Durga, the first day is kept in preparation for worship.

Maa Shailputri is offered sweets made of milk and sugar. On this day delicacies made of milk, sugar and ghee are offered to the goddess.
