Story of Skanda Mata

According to the legend, Lord Brahma blessed the demon Tarakasur that he could be killed only by the son of Lord Shiva. When the demon started causing problems for the people on earth, the gods urged Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to marry so that their child could kill Tarakasur. Lord Kartikeya, the son of Shiva and Parvati eventually put an end to Tarakasur and peace was restored on earth.
