The Center will hold a high-level meeting with the Andhra Pradesh government on Monday regarding completion of pending projects listed in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014. Sources told News18 that the virtual meeting will be held between the Union Cabinet Secretary at 3:30 pm. Rajiv Gauba and Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Adityanath Das.

Both sides stand ready to conduct a detailed review of issues relating to various departments including petroleum and natural gas, civil aviation, steel, water resources, defense research and development between Telangana and Andhra. State government officials say they will mainly focus on the 13 pending projects. These include setting up of a steel plant in Cuddapah district and a crude oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Kakinada.

The state government may also press for expansion of airports in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati. Other things listed in Monday’s meeting include the Polavaram multi-purpose project, setting up of a petroleum university in Vizag and development of the Vizag-Chennai industrial corridor.

State government officials claim that this is the first time in seven years after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh that the central government has decided to speed up development projects that are in limbo due to political and legal issues.

“During his last visit to New Delhi in June, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had requested both PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to approve development projects in AP that have not been completed even after seven years of bifurcation. . The Center has now promised to support us. A state government official said, we are expecting a positive result.
