Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday accused the BJP-led central government of using force and hooliganism for not allowing the MCD polls in the city and said AAP will approach the court to hold elections on time. Speaking in the Delhi Assembly on the second day of the monsoon session, Kejriwal claimed that talks are on that Delhi can be turned into a full-fledged Union Territory and there will be no elections.

They (Centre) are using force, committing hooliganism to not conduct MCD elections. During a discussion, Kejriwal said that we will have to approach the court to conduct the MCD elections on time and we will do so. After his speech, Kejriwal told reporters during the integration exercise of the three MCDs, the Center had assured that a delimitation commission would be set up, which would be followed by elections.

More than one and a half months have passed since the amalgamation of MCD, but they have not constituted the Delimitation Commission. They don’t want elections to be held. It is against democracy. Kejriwal told reporters that if needed, we will go to court on this.
