If Celine Dion returns to the stage at the opening ceremony which is set to be held on Friday, it will be the pop legend’s first performance after she stepped away from the limelight on being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022.

With just a few days left before the start of the 2024 Olympics, Celine Dion has arrived in the French capital. The 56-year-old Canadian singer has sparked excitement among her fans after being spotted in Paris. She was captured smiling as she walked in a black blazer and pants, over a crisp, white shirt. She was also sporting a pair of black sunglasses. Dion has reportedly not given any stage performance for the last four years. Now, rumours are in the air that she might be performing at the Paris Olympics inauguration ceremony.

If she returns to the stage at the Olympic Games opening ceremony which is set to be held on Friday, it will be the pop legend’s first performance after she stepped away from the limelight on being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022, reports Variety. Meanwhile, a video of her in Paris has been circulating on social media and her fans are rooting for their favourite singer’s comeback.

Dion arrived in Paris on Monday and has reportedly been staying at the Royal Monceau Hotel near the Champs-Élysées, where Lady Gaga, another potential opening ceremony performer, is staying. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding either of the performances yet.

The My Heart Will Go On singer had also teased in April this year that she might make a comeback soon. In conversation with Vogue France, she had said, “I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again.”

While there is a lot of excitement in the air this time as it might be after a long hiatus, Dion is no stranger to the Olympics. She had performed at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996. She sang The Power of the Dream at that time during the opening ceremony, which had a record viewership of 3.5 billion globally.
