CBSE 10th Result 2022: What is the Final Result Calculation Formula? Why is there debate around it?

In form of CBSE All set to announce their class 10 and class 12 board exam results, the debate about the result calculation formula is still on. For the first time in the history of CBSE, class 10 and class 12 have been divided into two terms. The syllabus was divided into two parts. The first part of the syllabus was asked in Term 1 and the second half in Term 2. Term 1 exam was MCQ-based and Term 2 was subjective. Since last year the board had to declare the result without the exam, the board decided to schedule an exam before the normal exam session.

Now, since Covid-19 was under control, both the exams were conducted. As per the official communication by CBSE, the results will include Term 1, and Term 2 marks as well as performance of students in internals and practicals. However, the board did not specify which term would get how much weightage. CBSE also informed that students who have missed one of the two term due to a valid reason will also get their result. How? It is not specified.

What have other boards done?

Other boards which have declared their results on the basis of two conditions have given 40% weightage to teaching term and remaining 20% weightage to internals or practicals. Generally, state and central boards follow a similar pattern. Earlier, CBSE had also indicated that both the terms may have equal importance, however, this did not go down well with students and parents who resorted to online protests.

Why protest?

Students and parents claim that many schools helped students cheat during the first exam. CBSE School Management Association (CSMA) in Tamil Nadu letter to cbse Claiming that some schools gave question papers to the students ahead of time. He also alleged that one has to write ‘C’ in the answer box, which will then be rounded off to ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘D’, depending on the correct answer. This was an easy solution because the lowercase ‘c’ can be changed to the other three letters.

CBSE later Same day check procedures stopped And in term 2 students were not given their own schools as home centers. However, now parents and students have started an online campaign claiming that if Term 1 exam is given the same importance as Term 2, it will be injustice to those students who did not copy.

What is the best in any period?

The students also demand that CBSE either give highest weightage to internal assessment which will rank the students on the basis of their performance throughout the year. The students have also suggested that internal assessment be given a maximum weightage of 50 per cent and the remaining 50 per cent be divided into term 1 and term 2.

The students also claim that in order to reduce the outbreak of the pandemic, students can also be scored on the basis of best of any period. This means that a general formula can be used where each student can score either Term 1 or Term 2 based on their performance. This will also ensure that students who have omitted one of the two words will also receive the same evaluation system.
