CBSE 10th, 12th Result 2022: Marks required to pass based on new formula, scores of previous year toppers

More than 35 lakh students who appeared for class 10th and class 12th exams central board of secondary education (CBSE) can expect from them Result by 15th July CBSE is expected to announce the class 10 result date and class 12 result date in the coming week. This would result not only for CBSE Term 2 exam but also the final result. The final formula on which the board has calculated the results will be declared along with the result.

Before checking their result, students need to know that what will be the passing criteria this year? Usually, students securing 33 per cent marks are considered to have passed the CBSE board exam, however, since there were two exams, will the passing criteria change? As per the information available till now, CBSE will not pass each session separately to the students and will instead consider the overall pass percentage.

what does this mean? This implies that students need not clear each post separately and obtaining 33 per cent marks in the final result will be sufficient to qualify. While announcing the Term 1 results, CBSE did not release the data on how many students may or may not pass and the students, irrespective of their marks, were allowed to appear in the Term 2 examination. The board had then announced that the pass percentage will be calculated on the basis of the final marks.

But how will the final score be determined? As of now, other boards that have declared the results of examinations conducted in two-term mode have given 40 per cent weightage to each written examination and 20 per cent weightage to internal assessment. Though it is highly likely that CBSE will also take a similar route, but the final formula will be known only with the results.

Last year, when CBSE declared the results of both Class 10 and Class 12 boards without any exams, almost all the students in both the board exams passed with a pass percentage of over 99 percentile. Have a look at the pass percentage over the years in CBSE 10th and 12th –

CBSE 10th, 12th Result 2022: Last year’s toppers

For the past two years, CBSE has not released the list of toppers or merit list, given that there were no exams in 2021, and board exams had to be put on hold in 2020 due to the pandemic. It will be after almost three years when CBSE will release the merit list.

In 2021, the class 10 toppers were Amrutanshi Mohanty, Sriram Patnaik, Dhruvi Singh and Kushagra Mishra, all of whom scored 99.8 per cent. Class 12 topper from Arts stream was Hiteshwar Sharma with 99.8 percent.

In 2020, the class 10 toppers were Shirija Chhabra and P Harini who secured 99.8 percentile. Class 12 toppers were Divyanshi Jain and Tushar Singh with 100 percentile.

In 2019, class 10 toppers were Bhavana N Sivadas, Aryan Jha, Taru Jain, Divjot Kaur Jaggi, Manya, Yogesh Kumar Gupta, Siddhant Pengoriya, Divyansh Wadhwa, Shuvani Lath, Ish Madan, Apoorva Jain, Ankur Mishra, Vatsal Vrashney with 99.8 per cent marks. The class 12 toppers were Hansika Shukla and Karishma Arora with 99.8 per cent marks.
