The victim’s wife Usha Sharma had lodged an FIR at the Town police station, accusing Sharma and six others of conspiring to eliminate her husband over a property dispute.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday registered a case against former Amrapali Group of Companies CMD Anil Kumar Sharma and six others in connection with the sensational murder of Sharad Chandra Kumar, former secretary of an educational trust Balika Vidyapeeth in Bihar’s Lakhisarai. The Patna High Court had ordered an inquiry into the matter in December last year.

In 2014, raids were conducted to arrest six of the seven accused in the said murder case, including Sharma.

Chandra was shot dead on 2 August 2014 at his home by two unidentified men.

The victim’s wife Usha Sharma had lodged an FIR at the Town police station, accusing Sharma and six others of conspiring to eliminate her husband over a property dispute.

Chandra, who had served as secretary of an educational institution called Balika Vidyapeeth Trust for 20 years before being succeeded in that post by Sharma five years ago.

The police arrested one of the accused Dr. Praveen Kumar Sinha, a few hours after the murder, in the year in which the incident took place.

However, Sharma had earlier denied the allegation against him and said that he was “framed in the said murder case to malign his reputation”.
