Earlier, Rajnath Singh had described Savarkar as a staunch nationalist and India’s first military strategist in the 20th century. He also said that people of Marxist and Leninist ideology wrongly accuse him of being a fascist.
At an event organized to release a book on Savarkar, Singh described him as a “national symbol” and said he gave the country a “strong defense and diplomatic principle”.
