CAT 2022 Result by January First Week, Check Expected Cut off Score

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2022 It was conducted by IIM Bangalore on 27th November and the results will be out in the first week of January. Once released, candidates can check the result on the official website – iimcat.ac.in. Answer key has already been released. Experts claim that this year the cut off percentile could be 95 or more.

“CAT results are out, cut off game starts now. There are a few things one must understand in order to get a call from IIM. To get admission in IIMs and top B-schools like FMS, MDI, IIT etc. there are two different cut offs which are taken into account – minimum sectional cut off and overall cut off. The cut-off ranges between 75-85 percentile,” says Amit Poddar, senior regional head, TIME

The overall cut off score in the slot can be anywhere between 95 to 99 percentile, says Ramnath Kanakdandi, director of CAT courses at TIME, “Even at around 85 percentile some students may get a final call from an IIM. But, in new and top IIMs most of the calls are given above 95 percentile. There may also be a case when some students with 95+ percentile overall may not get a call, for the simple reason that they may not have cleared the sectional cut off,” explains Poddar.

100 percent – IIM Rohtak, Trichy, Udaipur, Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Bodhgaya, Sambalpur, Jammu, Sirmaur.

“At least 13 out of 20 IIMs give 60 to 100 per cent weightage to CAT scores while shortlisting candidates for WAT/GD/PI rounds. Rest of the weightage is given to other parameters,” he said.

IIMs follow a two stage selection process – written test and GWPI (Group Discussion / Written Ability Test / Personal Interview). The final list of selection is done keeping in view the performance of the candidate in the written test, GWPI process, educational background, work experience etc. There are academic percentages obtained in class 10th, 12th and graduation, work experience, academic diversity, gender, etc. Poddar explained that some IIMs are also considered while only CAT percentile is considered.
