Cars of Palestinians vandalized in West Bank amid rising Jewish extremist violence

Police said Sunday morning that several vehicles were vandalized overnight in the northern West Bank village of Kira, amid rising attacks by Jewish extremists.

The vehicles were carrying Stars of David as well as slogans calling for an end to administrative orders under which suspects could be held at no charge. The tires of many cars burst.

Police said the security forces would go to the spot and collect evidence.

Anti-Arab vandalism by Jewish extremists is a common occurrence in the West Bank.

The incidents of vandalism against Palestinians and Israeli security forces are commonly referred to as “price tag” attacks, with perpetrators claiming that they are retaliation for Palestinian violence or government policies that are perceived as hostile to the settler movement.

One focus is the use of administrative detention, which allows Israeli authorities to arrest people who are deemed to be in imminent danger without charge or full trial.

However, arrests of criminals are extremely rare and rights groups lament that punishment is even more unusual, with most charges dropped in such cases.

Vandalism in Kira comes days after Jewish extremists Palestinians and leftist Israeli activists attacked In the West Bank village of Burin, at least six were injured and one car burned, with clubs and stones.

Interior Minister Omar Barlev said In response to the Burin attack on Sunday that the violence was “the organized action of a terrorist group”.

telling an important story

During a global pandemic, a small country is conducting research that is helping guide health policy around the world. How effective are the COVID-19 vaccines? After the first two shots, does the third dose help? What about a quarter?

When The Times of Israel began covering COVID-19, we had no idea our little beat would become such a central part of the global story. Who could have known that Israel would be the first at nearly every turn in the vaccination story – and generate the research that is so urgently needed today?

Our team covers this story with the rigor and accuracy that characterizes Times of Israel’s reporting on a variety of topics. If it is important to you that this type of media organization exists and thrives, I urge you to support our work. Will you join the Times of Israel Community today?
