Car sinks into sinkhole as part of road caves in after rain in Delhi

New Delhi: Due to heavy rains in the national capital, a section of a road in Dwarka’s Sector 18 broke down and a traffic police constable’s car got stuck there, officials said.

According to the police, the incident took place at Atulya Chowk in Dwarka around 5 pm.

A senior police officer said, “The vehicle belongs to a constable in Delhi Traffic Police. He was rescued safely and no one was injured in the incident.”

He said that the car was later pulled out with the help of a hydro crane.

Monday morning, Waterlogging due to continuous rain in the city and traffic jams on many roads.

Waterlogging has been reported in some parts like Ring Road, Pragati Maidan, Palam, Kirari and Rohtak Road.

Delhi Traffic Police said in a tweet, “Waterlogging has been reported at Pulpehladpur under Railway Bridge. Traffic has been diverted from MB (Mehrauli-Badarpur) Road to Mathura Road.”

Traffic jam was seen at Ring Road near Millennium Park, Sarai Kale Khan, Kilokari, near IP Flyover, Dhaula Kuan, Vikas Marg, Azadpur among other places.
